After all the successful trades in the last week, i looked at Wheat and Sugar yesterday and saw that Wheat had broken some significant resistance to the upside and sugar did the same to the downside.
So i thought id get involved. Especially Sugar looked really good.
I went long /ZW and shorted /SB.
They were bouncing around quite a bit from green to red and back.
I thought about taking them off with small profits, but one thing i felt i did wrong in previous trades was pulling out early.
So i decided to leave them on over night, which was a mistake.
Especially Wheat punished me hard.
I still have them on and i will see how they go today, but im pretty sure i will be locking in quite a bit of a loss here unfortunately.
I think the problem were neither mechanics or plans. The problem is just that those instruments are crazy leveraged so that i just cant stomach the fluctuations when they go against me.
But i guess thats what i will have to live with in this account.
COP didnt do too well either, and turned from a nice profit into a small loss.
That one is considerably smaller though, so i will keep following this one until it hits the stop. (or goes back up)
FTR went down as well... blergh

Looking at the crazy short squeeze and follow up selloff in gold yesterday i might be looking at shorting Gold next.
Will have to analyze it a bit more though, i do seem to have a knack for precious metals though :)

Went down. Mainly because X took a complete nosedive recently.

I didnt check the account this morning as i overslept again because i stayed up too late, but looking at the performance of QQQ, SPY and TLT i think it might have been a small loss.
Nasdaq and SPY went in my favor but TLT gapped up which will hurt my FED announcement "earnings play" Iron Fly that had very short wings.
CORN took a dive as well, so yeah. Probably red.

Just looking at /GC im pretty sure that this one at least is green.
I will check tonight.

Fkn red days... looks like one will never get used to them.

Better late than never here is the review of the trading from Monday. I have been practicing scanning on my own and i seem to be quite good at it. However, i didnt end up trading any of the stocks i scanned for as i only look for symbols worth $20 and lower since that works better with my account. I ended up going with Nates watchlist though. I had NVDA up on the starter screen again and it ended up being the only ticker i traded. I still seem to be trading nervously. In hindsight it wouldve been smart to wait for the g/r break. At least i could have taken off half of the position. Timing is definitely still the factor. I also made a mistake when i tried to close the position for the first time and sold a second lot of 100 shares. Luckily it ticked down and i closed immediately as i had planned in the first place. Anyways, its another nice green day. That RLOG position can be ignored as i made a mistake in the last session when i was experimenting with stuff after finishi...

Day trade report - Friday, 22.07.2017

Red day today. I felt ok but as i was entering i realized that i didnt have a stop in mind so i didnt consider the risk im taking. Other than that i dont feel like i did much stuff the wrong way. First entered MSFT short Ended up chopping back and forth, so i exited only to start thinking that last time i exited at a similar point where it was about to break VWAP, so i entered short again. It broke but bounced back up right away, so i now i had enough and exited. Later on i realized that i had got the size wrong and suddenly i was long 100 shares. So i got stressed out and accidentially sold too many shares, so i had to buy back those 100 shares again. Stupid, unprofessional and noob material. THAT i really have to cut out. Next, i traded GE Thought it would just take a breather. I guess you could call that chasing but i think Nate would refer to this as one of the good chasers. When it broke back under vwap i exited. Next was LOW This looked like a nice ABCD pattern setup...

Back at it

So after a month in Switzerland teaching animation and a few really intense week at work where i really had to dig in and find my footing in this project, i am finally looking forward to smoother times. I have been dilligently practicing 2-3h a day and about 5-6h each on Saturdays and Sundays. Studying charts, trying to make trades and recognizing patterns. I've joined Bulls on Wall Street for their bootcamp and am so looking forward to start papertrading again once daylight savings time in the US has changed and i can start my new schedule of getting up at 2am, trading from 3.30 until 6.00, then working from 6.30 until 5.00 and go to sleep at 8pm. Its a experiment that will hopefully help me to trade the open consistently every day. I will try to journal my this endeavour on here. Until soon.
